The image above shows an air inversion event that occurred in Keene in 2021. An air inversion event is when there is a warm air layer sandwiched in between two cold air layers. This traps pollution in the area of the inversion and it begins to build up leading to decreased air quality. The main telling point of these inversions is the clear air above the haze which you can see around the red arrow. Particulate matter stays at ground level and doesn't disperse.
